I have a strange beginning!
I learned how to draw in math class! I was so bored, I would always doodle near or around equations. Sure I grasped the concept of math as a fundemental building block, but art was way more interesting to me.
As I grew, I would dream of making comics. when I got my first job, working with my father in carpentry, on my off time, stupidly, I would call graphic design places in California, asking whomever answered, what I would need to do to learn how to make comic books for a living.
Thankfully, they were always gracious enough to not laugh me off the phone and tell me some good pointers.
Learn to draw, go to school. Learn to draw, work hard, and go to school!
After I paid my father back for the long distance calls, I ended up using whatever money I had left to go buy comics in downtown Port Huron, where I would run into a group of people who called themselves DARKWORLD COMIX.
The rest is history. Simple cause and effect.
