In 1992, at the Detroit Motor City Comic Con, Larry Lonsby Jr. met Tony D’Alesandro, known as QUID, through a mutual friend. We walked through Artist Alley together, taking in the energy of creators who were building entire worlds with their own hands.

By the end of the day we were convinced that we could do the same. During the car ride home we talked about our future plans, and in that moment Dark World Comix was born. Tony’s brother in New York created our first business card, and that small beginning grew into something much larger.

Over the years many people came and went, but the heart of Dark World Comix never changed.

The mission was always to publish independent comics from within, fueled by passion and unity. From that creative core came titles such as Tales of Tezlon, Byrd of Prey, Midtown Productions, Kilm, Darksword, Azar Relm, and many more that continue to shape the legacy.The true success of Dark World has always come from the dedication of the core members who stayed, created, and believed in the vision.Tony D’Alesandro, Ben Swinson, Chris Dunsmore, Robert Johnston, Mariah Dunsmore, and Larry Lonsby III remain the soul and spirit of Dark World Comix.
